With the weekend coming up, we’ve got a few suggestions to keep you entertained and busy for the next three days. Qatar’s got a lot going on, you just need to know where to look, so make the most of your free time and check out these events and venues for something new and fun to do.

1. Halloween Trick or Treat Brunch

In celebration of the spookiest night of the year, the Season’s restaurant at the Movenpick Hotel will be laying on a frighteningly good Trick or Treat themed brunch this weekend.  Promising a ‘fang-tastic feast’, guests can look forward to a host of international dishes, sizzlers and beverages all with a ghoulish twist. 

To make the experience ‘spook-tacular’ for the whole family, any little monsters will be treated to a special kid’s buffet.  They will also have their own play area with face painting activities, a bouncy castle, and the occasional visit from scary mascots.  Kids dressed in scary costumes will get special treats from staff.

Times: 12 noon – 3pm

Price: Brunch with unlimited soft drinks is QAR175 per person.  Kids eat for free.

2. Halloween Island Costume Party – Dhow Cruise

Take a trip on a Dhow this weekend and be prepared to share your ride with zombies, witches and ghouls.  The National Cruise Company are inviting passengers to come dressed for Halloween and spend an evening at sea where things go bump in the night! 

Guests will be able to enjoy hearty barbequed food, music and spectacular views of Doha’s cityscape as they sail along the coastline and around Al Safliya Island.

Where: Catch the Island Party Cruise Dhow on the Corniche Promenade, next to the Museum of Islamic Art. 

Arrive at least 15 minutes before departure.

Dates: Friday 2nd Novemeber

Times: 6pm – 12pm

Price: The cruise with BBQ and selected soft drinks costs QAR240 per person, QAR170 with selected soft drinks only.  Children under 3 years of age travel free.

3. NEMR Global Comedy Tour

For an evening full of giggling, guffawing and out and out belly laughs, head to the W Doha Hotel this weekend.  Lebanese-American comedian, Nemr is bringing his new stand-up tour, ‘Love Isn’t the Answer’, to Qatar and promises to have his audience in stitches.

Credited with establishing and pioneering the stand-up comedy scene throughout the Middle East, Nemr aims to break-down barriers and unite people through comedy. 

Where: W Doha Hotel and Residences, West Bay, Doha

Dates: Thursday 1st November

Times: 9pm – 11pm (Doors open at 8pm)

Price: Tickets start from QAR150 per person

4. Qatar National Library Jamming Session

Do you have a budding musician in the house, aged between 12-18?  Why not take them to the Qatar National Library (QNL) this weekend for a jamming session with other young musicians. 

QNL are hosting a musical jamming session at the library in their high-tech innovation rooms, equipped with an assortment of instruments and the latest recording equipment and software.  Young musicians only need bring their instrument and they can join in.  After jamming with their fellow musicians, there will also be a tutorial about the instruments and the production software and equipment.

Where: Innovation Station 2, Qatar National Library, Education City, Doha

Dates: Saturday 3rd November

Times: 4pm – 6pm

Price: Free

Other: The session, for young adults only, will be hosted in English.

5. Qatar Classical Squash Championships

The annual classic squash tournament returns to Doha this weekend, and you could join spectators to watch top players from around the world battle it out on court.  The Qatar Finals, Semis and Finals are being thrashed out on the 31stOctober, 1st and 2nd November respectively, and the prize is a whopping $177,000. 

Top ranked global players will include rising Qatari Champion, Abdulla Al Tamini, rated 28th in the Professional Squash Association (PSA) world ranking table. 

Where: Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, Al Dafna, Doha

Dates: 27th October – 2nd November

Times: 5:30pm onwards

Price: QAR 15-20
