With the weekend coming up, we’ve got a few suggestions to keep you entertained and busy for the next three days. Qatar’s got a lot going on, you just need to know where to look, so make the most of your free time and check out these events and venues for something new and fun to do.

1. Dragon Boating 

Where: The Pearl, Porto Arabia, Marina Gate 23 

Date: Saturday, 22 September

Time: 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Price: 75 QR per person

Grab a paddle and enjoy an afternoon/evening of exercise and a tour of The Pearl while you're at it. The activity includes all equipment (paddles) and staff as needed. No prior experience is required.

Group sessions can be organised for 10 or more people. 

If you do sign up, be sure to bring:

  • Sports clothes that can get wet
  • A cap and sunscreen 
  • AT LEAST 1.5 litres of water

2. 'Magicians of the Light' at MIA

Where: Museum of Islamic Art Auditorium

Dates: 19 - 22 September

‘Magicians of the Light’ is a series of five films that showcase iconic works from cinematographer geniuses who pushed the boundaries of light and film, leaving their mark on cinematic history.

3. Dim Sum Non Stop

Where: Spice Market at W Doha Hotel & Residences

4. Embracing Life Exhibition

Where: Katara Cultural Village, Building 18

Date: 18 September - 7 October

Time: 10:00 am - 10:00 pm

Free entry.

Syrian artist Akram Sweidan's exhibition sheds light on humanity’s morals. He aims to send a message of peace through his artwork, using empty mortar shells in his work to reflect upon conflict and war, collected from his own homeland.

 

5. Re Action Exhibition

Where: Katara Cultural Village, Building 19

Date: 19 September - 10 October

Time: 10:00 am - 10:00 pm

The exhibition showcases the work of a group of elite Sudanese artists Islam Kamil Ali, Tamer kamaluddine, Abdulathim Mahjoub Al Hussein, Nour Al Hadi and Hazim M. Al Hussain.
