Woqod fuel company is all set for an expansion spree in the country this year.

The company announced that it would add 30 new fuel stations to the country by the end of 2018.

WOQOD is also set to construct four new fuel stations on the Orbital Highway and new truck road connecting Mesaieed, Hamad Port, Dukhan, Lusail and Al Khor, reported Gulf Times.

The company will soon float tenders for the four new fuel stations.

WOQOD worked closely with Urban Planning Department at the Ministry of Municipality & Environment, Public Works Authority (Ashghal) as well as the Ministry of Transport and Communications while selecting locations for the new pumps, according to WOQOD CEO Saad Rashed Al Muhannadi.

Once the 30 new pumps come into service, it is expected to raise the number of fuel dispensers in the country by up to 50% compared to the previous year, reported The Peninsula.

WOQOD said its target was to open and operate 120 fuel stations in the country by the end of 2020.

The four new sites, for which tenders have been called, boast huge areas of up to 20,000SqM for the service of cars and trucks. An additional patch of 20,000SqM of land has been allocated adjacent to the petrol station for use as a car park and rest area.

The designs of the fuel stations are done in such a way that vehicles can move in and out of the facility without causing traffic blocks.

Al Muhannadi said the company had opened and operated eight fuel stations in the country so far this year. Work is underway for another 26 permanent and mobile stations.

Fuel stations in the following areas are nearing completion — Fareej Kulaib, Old Slata, Lusail City-Fox Hill, Hamad International Airport, Rawdat Al Hamama, Al Kharaitiyat, Al Gharafa (Zaghawa), Wholesale Market, Al Mesaimeer South, Al Wakrah, Al Thumama, Al Froosh, Al Aziziyah, Umm Ebairiya, Wadi Aba Saleel, Al Messila, West Bay and Onaiza-3.
