Qatar launches ‘Sard’ to track news, events and social media in multiple languages

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a new platform called “Sard” to monitor and follow news, events and social media content across multiple languages.

The platform was inaugurated on August 24 by Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the Ministry, Sard is designed to strengthen the monitoring and analysis of ongoing developments while providing its departments and employees with relevant information and data.

The launch forms part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ broader strategy to make greater use of artificial intelligence technologies in its daily operations, both within its departments in Qatar and across its diplomatic missions abroad.

The inauguration was also attended by Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al Hamar, Qatar’s Ambassador to Germany; and several Ministry department directors.
