Ministry of Transport launches 11 new e-services for Maritime Transport Affairs

Qatar’s Ministry of Transport has launched 11 new electronic services for large ships through its official website, expanding the range of maritime transactions that can be completed digitally.

With the latest additions, the total number of online services available for large ships has increased to 21.

The initiative forms part of the Ministry’s wider efforts to accelerate digital transformation, simplify government procedures and improve access to maritime transport services.

What are the new maritime e-services?

The newly introduced services cover a range of ship registration, ownership, mortgage and certification procedures.

They include:

• Issuance of a ship summary record certificate
• Request to amend ship specifications
• Request to deregister a ship
• Request to transfer ship ownership
• Issuance of a mortgage clearance certificate
• Request for a replacement for a lost ship document
• Request to register a ship mortgage
• Request to release a ship mortgage
• Issuance of a certificate confirming valid insurance against marine pollution
• Issuance of a “To Whom It May Concern” certificate
• Approval of the ship master’s report on damage to goods

By making these services available online, the Ministry aims to reduce the time and effort required to complete maritime transactions while improving the overall user experience.

Supporting Qatar’s digital transformation

Mohammed Mohsen Al-Hajjaji, Acting Director of the Registration and Seafarers Affairs Department at the Ministry of Transport, said the expansion forms part of the Ministry’s strategy to automate services across its sectors and adopt modern digital solutions.

The goal is to build a more efficient and innovative maritime transport sector while contributing to a more integrated government services system in Qatar.

The initiative also supports the wider objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, which places digital transformation and improved public services among the country’s development priorities.
