Qatar has welcomed the United States’ decision to remove the Syrian Arab Republic from its list of state sponsors of terrorism, describing the move as a positive development for Syria and the wider region.
In a statement issued on August 25, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the decision could support efforts to strengthen stability in Syria and contribute to advancing the political settlement process in accordance with international resolutions.
The Ministry said such progress should ultimately serve the aspirations of the Syrian people.
Qatar also reaffirmed its longstanding position in support of Syria’s unity, sovereignty and independence.
The Ministry reiterated Qatar’s solidarity with the Syrian people and their efforts to achieve security, stability and prosperity.
The statement reflects Qatar’s continued emphasis on supporting a political path that promotes long-term stability in Syria while safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and territorial unity.
