QF Welcomes More Than 800 New Students at Education City 'Marhaba' Event

Qatar Foundation welcomed more than 800 newly enrolled students at Education City universities during "Marhaba", its annual welcome event marking the start of the new academic year.

Held at Multaqa, the Education City Student Center, the event aimed to familiarise students with Education City and the resources and opportunities available to support the development of their academic, social and personal skills.

Dr. Francisco Marmolejo, President of Higher Education and Education Advisor at Qatar Foundation, said the students had joined a distinctive community bringing together people from a wide range of academic disciplines, cultures and backgrounds.

He said Education City provides an integrated environment that encourages learning, collaboration and the exchange of knowledge and experience.

Marmolejo stressed that Education City is more than a collection of international universities, describing it as an interconnected system where students engage with their teachers and with one another, creating greater opportunities for learning and cultural and knowledge exchange.

He highlighted diversity as one of Education City’s key strengths, bringing together future engineers, artists, doctors, policymakers, entrepreneurs, scientists, educators and innovators and giving them opportunities to collaborate and exchange ideas.

Marmolejo encouraged students to play an active role within the Qatar Foundation community and beyond, noting that success extends beyond academic achievement to personal development, leadership skills, psychological well-being and contributing to society.

He also urged students to think creatively, make use of opportunities both inside and outside the classroom, and build personal and professional relationships that can help shape their future experiences and enable them to make a positive contribution to their communities.

Over more than three decades, Qatar Foundation’s higher education system has graduated more than 12,000 students from Education City universities, providing them with opportunities to study within a single educational ecosystem that brings together a number of international universities.
