The year 2015 is a special year for Qatar Living as it will be turning 10 years since the website was launched.

Qatar has been very busy the past decade. It has been hosting global events, building remarkable edifices and even got a new Emir! Hence, we thought we would take you on a flashback in our own style - 10 years into the colourful past of Qatar!

Year 2005

1. Qatar's first social networking website, QatarLiving.com, was launched in October of this year.

2. Qatar’s 1st written constitution comes into effect providing some democratic reforms.

3. Qatar and US launch a $14 billion project to build the world’s largest liquefied Natural Gas Plant.    

Year 2006

Qatar hosted the Asian Games

Year 2007

1. The Emiri Decree announces December 18 as Qatar’s national day.

2. Qatar becomes one of the largest shareholders of the London Stock Exchange.

3. The prestigious “Forbes CEO Middle East Forum” was held in Qatar.

Year 2008

1. The Museum of Islamic Arts was opened.

2. The first official Christian Church called St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church was opened.

Year 2009 – Qatar cuts its trade ties with Israel due to Gaza offensives

Year 2010 – Qatar was selected to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

 Year 2011

1. Qatar joins military operations in Libya.

2. The Qatar National Convention Center was opened.

Year 2012

Qatar wins two Olympic medals at the 2012 Summer Olympics held in London.

Year 2013

HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani takes over as the Emir of Qatar after his father, the former Emir, abdicates.

Year 2014

1. The Hamad International Airport was opened.

2. Qatar also launched the Qatar Digital Library in October 2014.

Year 2015

1. Qatar and 4 other GCC countries take part in Saudi led air strikes on Houthi rebels in Yemen.

2. The Hamad Inetrnational Airport is among the world’s top ten airports.

3. QatarLiving.com completed 10 years.
