According to Qatar Chamber (QC) Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani in the May 2022 issue of Al Moltaqa magazine, the '1000 Opportunities Initiative,' which was recently launched by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), is an electronic platform that allows local investors to secure investment opportunities from major international and local companies operating in Qatar. He went on to say that the programs allow local investors to learn about current and future projects as well as prospects that will satisfy their needs, whether in terms of products or services provided by local private sector businesses. It is a positive move toward creating important economic and financial opportunities for the industry sector, which has experienced significant growth in recent years.

The official emphasized the importance of the public-private partnership by claiming that there is no doubt that the '1000 Opportunities Initiative' is of particular importance. As well as activating the State's business sectors, particularly SMEs, to develop their products and services, this will become more competitive in the Qatari market. By localizing supply chains, enhancing service provider efficiency, and encouraging, localizing, and transferring expertise to the national product, this project will help to create a more appealing environment.

The national initiative also helps to increase reliance on locally produced goods. This is especially true given the government's strong interest in strengthening the manufacturing sector, reducing reliance on imports, and improving the efficiency and quality of the national product, which has become more price and quality competitive than imported goods.

The Chairman of the QC stated that QC strongly supports initiatives that enable the private sector to play a larger role in economic activity. As a result, the Chamber recently conducted a seminar in partnership with the MoCI to raise awareness of this program among the business community and QC members and to assist them in taking advantage of it.

Sheikh Khalifa stated that the Chamber encourages local companies to take advantage of this initiative as part of its support for the private sector as a genuine partner in the State's development process, especially since the Chamber strongly believes that the private sector should have a greater share of the investment opportunities available in the State, especially after the great efficiency and leadership it demonstrated during the COVID-19 crisis.
