QDB launches new support programmes for Qatar’s private sector

The Qatar Development Bank (QDB) has launched two new support programmes to help private-sector companies and factories in Qatar overcome financial pressures linked to current regional developments.

In a statement on Wednesday, QDB said the programmes aim to strengthen working capital and liquidity so businesses can continue operating and handle challenges more effectively.

The move is part of QDB’s broader support efforts through its Situation Room, which was activated in early March to identify urgent private sector needs and provide financing and advisory support.

The first initiative, the Working Capital Stabilization Guarantee Program, supports Qatar-based companies in the services sector through financing provided by local partner banks. The financing is backed by a comprehensive 100% guarantee provided by QDB, which is offered without charging guarantee fees to partner banks.

The programme currently targets sectors including accommodation, housing, food and hospitality services, arts and entertainment, professional and technical services, and administrative and support services.

The financing can cover salaries, rent and other operating expenses for up to three months. The guarantee covers the full principal amount of the outstanding financing, with repayment periods of up to four years, including a grace period of up to two years.

The second initiative, the Working Capital Stabilization Program, provides direct financing from QDB to factories in Qatar to support operations, local production, and essential expenses. The financing covers salaries, rent, and operating costs for up to three months, with repayment periods of up to four years, including a grace period of up to two years, and a maximum profit rate of 3%.

QDB said it continues to coordinate with relevant entities in Qatar to support the private sector and strengthen the resilience of the national economy.
