As Qatar continues to carry out its National COVID-19 Vaccination Program, more than 40 percent of children aged 12-15 have already received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

This was announced by the Head of Vaccination Section in the Department of Health Protection and Communicable Disease Control at the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Dr Soha Al Bayat while asking parents not to be afraid of vaccination of children.

Dr Al Bayat mentioned that she hoped to see an increase in the number of children being vaccinated with the return of travelers from abroad in the current holiday season.

In general, she said the response to children’s vaccination against COVID-19 has been very good and children themselves have been quite keen to get vaccinated.

MoPH had announced in May this year that children aged 12-15 can get vaccinated against COVID-19 with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Parents were asked to register for their children's vaccination online.

To register, parents are asked to follow the below steps:

- Visit the MoPH vaccination registration website. Click here.

- Choose the option to register your children

- You will be asked to enter your child’s QID.

- This will generate a passcode on the mobile number, under which the child’s QID is registered to complete the process.

- Following registration, the parent of the registered child will receive an SMS from the PHCC team to confirm the appointment date and time.

Earlier this week, MoPH also announced that 73.7 percent of the eligible population (12 years +) have gotten both doses while 87.5 percent have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

MoPH statistics indicated that a total of 3,951,518 number of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Qatar, so far.
