The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs built 66 mosques and 79 imam houses over the past one year as part of its plan to double the number of mosques to keep pace with the population growth and expansion of big cities.

In a statement, the ministry said it received 37 plots of land allocated by authorities to build mosques and prayer areas for Eid Al Adha and Eid Al Fitr and centres for teaching the Quran.
