It's always nice to see humans try to live in harmony with nature, especially when grey apartment blocks and gaudy billboards have become the norm in so many places around the world. However, blending into the landscape has been taken quite literally in the case of these homes, which are integrated well enough with their surroundings to seem quite camouflaged.
1) Hobbit House in Pembrokeshire, Wales

Simon Dale began building this house in 2003 for him and his family. Clearly inspired by the hobbit homes in Lord of the Rings franchise, he wished to build a low impact home, as part of humankind's "ancestral right and ability to live well as part of the landscape/nature/earth".
2) Cave House Festus, USA

This three-story home in Missouri was built inside a cave and originally belonged to Curt and Deborah Sleeper in Festus, Missouri.
3) Stone House, Portugal

Although it looks like a massive rock, this house in Portugal actually has a door, a chimney and a window, and has become a huge tourist attraction.
4) Dar Al Hajar: The Rock Palace, Yemen

This home was built for Islamic leader of the Yemen, Imam Yahya. It got its nickname the ‘Rock Palace’ because of its rocky exterior. The palace is famous for the secret passages that run underground this beautiful, luxurious home.
5) Flintstones inspired cave house, US

Inspired by the Flintstones home from the much-loved 60’s cartoon, this single storey house in Malibu was listed by television legend Dick Clark at $3.5 million.
6) The Mushroom House, USA

Much like Pierre Cardin’s loopily designed house, this mushroom-like home was designed by architect Jame Johnson, and grows in upstate New York, Perington. Surrounded by stone walls, trees and soothing river streams, this fungus-like structure is made up of 5 'pods', with two bedrooms, a dining area, a kitchen and a jacuzzi.
7) Stone Ewok House

This stone-made, moss-covered house is partly inspired by the homes of the furry little Ewok creatures from the world of Star Wars.
