With Qatar’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program moving ahead in full gear, 95 percent of the country’s eligible population (12 years and above) has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

This was revealed by the country’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in its weekly update issued on September 5.

The Ministry update further mentioned that 88.1 percent of the eligible population (12 years and above) has gotten both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

In terms of the total population, 82.5 percent have received one dose while 76.2 percent have received both doses of the vaccine.

The Ministry stated that since the beginning of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program, as many as 4, 515, 730 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Qatar.

The Ministry once again urged all those who are eligible to receive the vaccine but have not yet booked their vaccination to act now.

“Get vaccinated to protect yourself and your family and support the return to normal life as soon as possible,” the Ministry stated.

With the start of the new academic year last month, the Ministry has been calling on parents to get their children (aged 12 and above) vaccinated against COVID-19. The Ministry shared 5 reasons why parents must do so.

The Ministry also recently approved a third dose of COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna) for those suffering from specific immunodeficiency diseases.

The third dose only applies to individuals with severe immunodeficiency and those who are particularly vulnerable to serious complications of COVID-19 infection, the Ministry had highlighted.
