Doha Metro from Hamad International Airport

Hamad International Airport Terminal 1 station is on the Red Line. The line connects the airport with central and northern destinations including:

Use the ticket vending machines or customer-service counter at the station.

A reusable Standard Travel Card costs QAR 10 before credit is added. Limited-use ticket options may also be available at the station for passengers who do not need a reusable card.

Do not ask for a Karwa Smartcard when buying Metro travel. The Metro uses Qatar Rail Travel Cards.

There is no single airport-bus fare covering every route.

T612

• Fare: QAR 2.50–3
• Listed operation: 24 hours

The QAR 3–4 estimate in the original article was broadly close, but QAR 2.50–3 is more accurate for these confirmed current routes.

Paying for the bus

Karwa buses and the Doha Metro do not use the same fare card.

For public buses, use the current Karwa bus payment method, which may include:

• Karwa Smartcard
• Digital ticket or QR option through the Karwa Journey Planner
• Another payment method displayed for the selected route

The Karwa Journey Planner provides current route, arrival and fare information and allows users to manage bus smartcards.

Check the app or ask staff at the Bus Pavilion before boarding. Do not buy a Qatar Rail Travel Card expecting it to work on an ordinary Karwa public bus.

Taxis from Hamad International Airport

A Karwa taxi is generally the easiest option when:

Karwa airport taxi fares

Recent published fare information continues to list:

• Airport starting fare: QAR 25
• Daytime rate: approximately QAR 1.60 per kilometre
• Nighttime or outside-Doha rate: approximately QAR 1.90 per kilometre

However, Mowasalat’s current public taxi page does not publish the full tariff table or a confirmed night-tariff window. The claim that the higher rate applies between approximately 9:00 pm and 6:00 am should therefore be removed unless Mowasalat confirms it directly.

Use the taxi meter or the estimate displayed in the Karwa app as the most relevant figure for the individual journey.

The following are planning estimates, not fixed airport fares. They are inferred from the commonly published airport starting fare, kilometre rates and approximate driving distances.

Traffic, waiting time, the exact building and the route taken can increase the total.

The earlier QAR 30–65 estimate for West Bay and QAR 45–80 estimate for The Pearl were too low at the bottom end, given the QAR 25 airport starting fare.

Paying for an airport taxi

Hamad International Airport states that airport Karwa taxis accept cashless methods including:

• Apple Pay
• Google Pay
• NAPS

Cash may also be useful as a backup, but arriving passengers do not generally need to find small change before boarding an official airport taxi.

Make sure you use the Taxi Pavilion and avoid unsolicited offers from unauthorised drivers.

Ride-hailing from Hamad International Airport

Uber, Badrgo and Ryde are currently authorised to collect passengers from Hamad International Airport.

The pickup point is not directly outside the Arrivals Hall.
