The 12-team league tournament match played on Monday at the Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium witnessed Al Saad’s utter dominance against Al Ahli with a score of 8-2.

The Wolves continue to dominate the scene by displaying a ruthless performance throughout the season, retaining the Falcon Shield for the 16th time.

Al Rayyan managed to secure second, holding eight titles. However, Al-Saad is currently on a winning streak and has four more upcoming matches - the overall performance shows the magnitude of skill and confidence compared to the other 11 teams in the league.

The Wolves have 52 points from 17 victories and one draw, taking the lead by a wide margin compared to second-placed Al Duhail. The Red Knights have 42 points from 19 matches, defeating Qatar Sports Club 5-0 yesterday.

“It’s a wonderful moment for all of us, the players, staff, and the fans,” said Javi Gracia, Al Sadd’s coach.

“I have won many titles but this is a special one. I want to thank the players, technical, administrative, and medical staff for their efforts throughout the season,” he added.

During the previous QSL tournament, the Wolves also showed substantial performance by staying undefeated under coach Xavi Hernandez. However, they are performing even better this year by adding 44 more wins!

The Wolves continue to display their supremacy over their opponents by scoring a massive 72 goals and conceding only 20. In comparison, Al Duhail managed to reach 52 goals, but the other teams did not come close.

“This is a very wonderful moment for the fans to share the joy of winning the league title, and I want to tell them that the players are still thirsty for more titles, and we will continue on the same path to winning more,” said Gracia after the dominant victory.

As for describing his first-ever title with Al Sadd, he said: “I won a second division title previously, but it does not match the feeling that I feel today, winning the Qatar Stars League, which is a special moment for me. Since I arrived, we have won many matches and displayed great performances, and I cannot describe my feeling now.”

“We have to prepare for the next match, and for all the upcoming tournaments, after settling the league title. The next step is to win the Amir Cup,” he added.

Akram Afif, the playmaker in Al Sadd, said the team wanted to get their hands on the title as soon as possible. He was the first to score against Al Ahli, unraveling their dominance after only 10 minutes into the game.

Hassan Al Haydos managed to double Al Saad’s lead from a spot-kick in the 29th minute after Al Ahli’s Hossein Kanaani received the marching orders for taking Abdelkarim Hassan’s shot.

Boualem Khoukhi (33rd minute), Santi Cazorla (36th minute), and Baghdad Bounedjah (43rd minute) added to their already leading score, ending the first half at 5-0 for Al Sadd.

Al Ahli scored two goals from Abdulrasheed Umaru (51st minute) and Aldokali Alsayed (61st minute). However, this did not stop Al Sadd from taking the lead, especially after adding three more goals by Andre Ayew (63rd minute and 90+3) and Yousef Abdulrazaq (77th minute), achieving their second successive title in style.

“The feeling of the title win cannot be described in words,” said Baghdad Bounedjah with great joy.

“Al Sadd deserved the title after such a brilliant performance. We dedicate this title to our fans, who always support us. Our next targets now are the Amir Cup and the Asian Champions League titles,” he added.

Meanwhile, Al Duhail is eight points ahead of Al Wakrah after defeating Qatar Sports Club at the Grand Hamad Stadium.

Michael Olunga (43 and 61 minutes) and team captain Almoez Ali (65 and 89 minutes) scored four goals for the team combined with Mubarak Shanan Hamza, who scored the fifth and final goal at the 90th-minute mark, claiming victory for Al Duhail.

The Red Knights require just one victory in the next three upcoming matches to finish second place in QSL.
