Qatar’s Public Works Authority Ashghal has announced it will implement a temporary traffic diversion near the Old Al Rayyan area.

The diversion, which will affect the 1.3km northbound stretch of Huwar Street and a 500M stretch along Al Maqareen Street, is expected to be in place for the next two months, reported Gulf Times.

The detour, which will help with the upgrade of the Al Rayyan Road, will go into effect on Friday, August 10, and will be in place for the next 60 days, said Asghal on its official website.

Road users who are travelling northbound from the Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street are instructed to use the first U-Turn to travel towards Al Rayyan, Bani Hajer and Education City.

The second U-Turn will take travellers to the new Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Thani Roundabout. Drivers can also take a right turn towards Al Maqareen Street to travel to the Al Beday Street.

Road users can also continue straight from the temporary traffic signal to travel towards the Tilted Interchange, reported The Peninsula.

Those who are travelling southbound from the Tilted Interchange are urged to use the Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Thani roundabout to travel towards Al Rayyan, Bani Hajer and Education City. They can also take the third exit at the roundabout to travel back to north or to east towards Al Maqareen Street and Al Beday Street.

Road users travelling westbound on Al Maqareen Street can use the temporary roundabout and temporary traffic signal to continue their journey towards Tilted Interchange. They can also use the second U-turn to travel towards Al Rayyan, Bani Hajer and Education City.

Ashghal is working on installing road signs advising motorists to abide by the speed limit, which has been reduced from 50kmph to 40kmph along the diversion routes.
