As the Holy Month of Ramadan is less than two weeks away, preparations for its arrival are in full swing across the nation.

To ensure health and safety standards are followed at food establishments, Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s (MME) Health Control Section has amplified its inspection tours under its arrangements for the upcoming Ramadan.

A number of food inspectors and veterinarians are taking part in the inspection tours that cover different parts of Doha.

The teams have been using state-of-the-art electronic inspection equipment to carry out the inspection procedures, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment has said in a statement.

Likewise, Al Shamal Municipality’s Municipal Services Affairs and Municipal Control departments have prepared a comprehensive work plan to prepare for Ramadan.

The plan involves conducting daily inspection tours in the morning and afternoon to ensure that food outlets and related commercial activities conform to the food health and safety regulations.

Violators will be dealt with strictly, according to the Ministry. Incase of complaints, MME has said its call center can be contacted on 184.  

Under these initiatives, veterinarians will be present at the Al Shamal slaughterhouse from 5am until 5pm daily to assess the condition of all slaughtered cattle there.

Meanwhile, other veterinarians and inspectors will be present at the fish market in the morning and afternoon hours, while regular inspection tours will be carried out at meat and poultry shops.

The inspectors will manage public complaints on related issues and concerns during their visits.

The endeavor also focuses on public parks, which will be open to visitors from 9am until midnight, and the regular maintenance of service facilities there will be conducted as scheduled.
