Qatar is gearing up in right earnest for hosting Eid al-Adha prayers and celebrations around the country.

The Ministry of Municipality said it stepped up its preparations for the occasion by cleaning and disinfecting 165 prayer areas.

Recreational facilities like public parks and beaches have also been readied to receive visitors during the festivities.

The Lusail Boulevard main road in Lusail City, which hosted thousands of football fans as well as holiday revellers, will remain closed until Tuesday, June 27. Traffic is being restricted to make it safer for people to visit the Boulevard and walk on its roads.

Slaughterhouses, which become quite popular during the Eid period, will be under strict supervision. Additional veterinary doctors have been deployed to check on sacrificial animals before and after slaughtering.

While cleaning teams from the Ministry’s General Cleanliness Department will work round-the-clock to ensure hygiene in public places, inspection campaigns have been intensified at food outlets to ensure they obey the rules.

Awareness drives are being held to educate workers at food outlets — especially food handlers — about food safety and hygiene. Inspection campaigns have also been carried out at food outlets, slaughterhouses and meat shops.

Health Control Section is continuing its inspection campaigns on food establishments, markets, meat and poultry and sweets shops in Al Sheehaniya Municipality, to ensure their compliance with health requirements.

Similar inspection drives are taking place in different municipalities including Al Wakrah, Al Shamal, Doha, Umm Salal, Al Khor and Al Dhakira.

The electronic services of the Ministry of Municipality will be available 24 hours to the public.

Meanwhile, people who are planning to visit Panda House Park and Al Khor Family Park can book entry tickets through the Ministry’s Oun app.

The Panda House Park will work from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and Al Khor Family Park from 8.00 am to 11.00 pm during Eid al-Adha.
