Hajj Registration for 1448 AH Opens Tomorrow

Electronic registration for those wishing to perform Hajj in 1448 AH begins tomorrow, Sunday, through the official Hajj portal (hajj.gov.qa), and will continue until October 20.

The Department of Hajj and Umrah Affairs at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs said registration is opening as part of its early preparations for the season, enabling approved Hajj operators to complete their operational and contractual arrangements and improve services for pilgrims from Qatar.

In a statement today, the department said registration is open to Qatari citizens aged 18 and above. Applicants may add up to three companions to a single application. Residents and citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council countries must be at least 45 years old, must not have previously performed Hajj and must have lived continuously in Qatar for at least 15 years. They may add one companion only. Companions must be included in the original application from the start of registration.

The department stressed that a health fitness certificate is a basic registration requirement under the conditions approved by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. Medical examinations are available at all health centres in the country, and their results are linked electronically to the system.

The Department of Hajj and Umrah Affairs said electronic screening will begin as soon as the registration period ends. Applicants who meet the requirements will receive acceptance notifications by text message from the end of October.

The online portal provides a unified platform for selecting approved Hajj operators, signing contracts and making electronic payments. To complete the procedures, applicants must pay an advance of QAR 10,000, which will be deducted from the final Hajj cost, to confirm the applicant’s commitment.
