Qatar’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has reminded individuals to respect the rules and regulations that apply to mosques across the country.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry yesterday, it is not permissible to hang posters or place copies of unlicensed Holy Qur’ans in Qatar’s mosques.

Individuals are also reminded that they cannot promote charitable or fundraising activities unless they have acquired prior approval from the relevant authorities, in line with legally established procedures for this purpose.

The statement adds, based on the Article 13 from Item 1 of Amiri Decree No 23 of 2014 on the organizational chart for the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, the ministry has the full legal right to withdraw the unlicensed Holy Qur’ans from the mosques. This is in line with the laws of Qatar.

Furthermore, the Ministry said it can take all legal measures against any such violations that take place during the prayer time or inside mosques.
