Qatari sports media group beIN Media Group roundly refuted all allegations of corruptions made against it by the OAG (Switzerland’s attorney general’s office) yesterday.
Swiss investigators had earlier said that Nasser Al Khelaifi, president of French club side Paris Saint-Germain and head of the channel, had been under scrutiny for alleged involvement in bribery for broadcast rights of World Cup events.
“beIN Media Group refutes all accusations made by the OAG. The company will fully co-operate with the authorities and is confident as to the future developments of this investigation,” Gulf Times reported it as saying in a statement.
Earlier, AFP had reported that Switzerland had opened a criminal corruption probe targeting Al Khelaifi and disgraced former FIFA executive Jerome Valcke. The allegations relate to the sale of media rights for upcoming World Cups.
The OAG had indicated that Al Khelaifi was under suspicion only for actions taken as the head of the sports media group beIN, which operates on five continents.
