The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has decided to adopt the blended education system with a rotating attendance system of 50 percent at public and private schools as students resume their studies on August 29, 2021.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, MoEHE had made the announcement via their Twitter account earlier today noting that capacity will be restricted in all schools and kindergartens for the academic year 2021-2022.
MoEHE had also announced that the second round of exams in government schools will commence for students of all classes on August 18, 2021.
Moreover, the Ministry highlighted certain precautionary measures that all public and private schools will be required to adhere to inside the educational buildings as follows.
- Limit the students to a maximum of 15 students, leaving a distance of 1.5 meters between each student and their classmates.
- Commitment to wearing a mask at all levels of education, starting from the first grade of primary school.
- Emphasis on implementation of 50 percent capacity in school buses.
- Continuing the bubble system in the classroom - with organizing the entry and exit of students to prevent overcrowding.
- Students who suffer from diseases that prevent them from receiving education at school - as determined by the Ministry of Public Health - are excluded from attendance, provided that they continue to attend remotely, and those excluded from attendance must submit a recent medical certificate, approved by the Ministry of Public Health.
- It is forbidden to go out during breaks, and the student must eat their meals inside the classroom.
- Morning assembly and group activities, such as excursions, camps, and celebrations, cannot be held (only virtual allowed).
- Students take all the central and semester exams inside the school building.
100 percent attendance is permitted for schools with a small number of students as long as the number of students in each class does not exceed 15 and a gap of 1.5 meters is maintained between them.
The Ministry explained that the health and safety of its students, teaching staff, administration, and all school workers are one of its top priorities, and despite the fact that more than 94 percent of educational and administrative staff in all public and private schools and kindergartens have been vaccinated in Qatar.
The Ministry stressed the importance of all administrators and teachers adhering to impeachment procedures as well.
Furthermore, administrative and teaching staff in government and specialized schools, schools for people with disabilities, private schools, and kindergartens will be required to conduct a rapid test for the COVID-19 (Rapid Antigen) on a weekly basis if they have yet to receive both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Fully vaccinated staff members will not be required to take the rapid test for COVID-19.
