The second matchday of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 brought goals, upsets, and early tournament drama as Brazil and Venezuela stole the spotlight. Egypt, Switzerland, and South Korea also impressed across different football pitches at the Aspire Zone on Tuesday.
Brazil’s U-17s set the tone with a scintillating 7-0 demolition of Honduras, led by a clinical double from Luigi Dell. The Brazilians were ruthless from the first whistle — Dell struck inside five minutes before Ruan Pablo, Arthur Ryan, Vitor Hugo, and Angelo Gabriel all found the net.
Dell returned to score his second midway through the second half, and Gabriel Mec completed the rout in the 72nd. The performance sent Brazil top of Group H and underlined their attacking intent.
If Brazil brought flair, Venezuela delivered shock value — stunning England 3-0 in one of the tournament’s early upsets. Kendrys Davis opened the scoring just before halftime, Daniel Fuentes curled in a superb second, and Jhonny Barrios struck deep into stoppage time to seal a famous win. The Vinotinto’s disciplined pressing and swift transitions left England struggling to create clear chances.

Egypt, meanwhile, delighted fans with a 4-1 triumph over Haiti. Abdallah Attia set the tone early, Mohamed Elzoghby doubled the lead with a composed finish. Though Pierre Nazon briefly pulled one back for Haiti, Abdelrahman Abdelkarim and Youssef Kamal restored control.
Despite Elzoghby’s late injury leaving Egypt a man down, the Young Pharaohs managed the game brilliantly to claim their first win of the tournament.
In Group F, Switzerland showcased efficiency and composure, cruising past Ivory Coast 4-1. Mathis Zufferey scored the fastest goal of the competition so far, striking after just two minutes. Ardon Llukes, Aaron Koloto, and Finn Stiel extended the Swiss advantage before Aboubacar Yao netted a late consolation for the Ivorians.

South Korea earned a gritty 2-1 win over Mexico. Koo Dong-hyun opened the scoring after 11 minutes, Alonso De Nigris levelled with a fine header, but Nam Hyun-woo restored Korea’s lead with a precise finish from a counterattack to secure three vital points.
Elsewhere, Germany and Colombia fought to a 1-1 draw in one of the day’s most balanced contests. Fynn Langsteiner made history by scoring after just 16 seconds — the third-fastest goal in U-17 World Cup history — before Jhonatan Catano equalized midway through the first half. Germany later missed a penalty in the 65th, a moment that proved decisive as both sides settled for a draw.
North Korea dominated El Salvador 5-0 with Ri Kang-rim and Kim Yu-jin each scoring twice. Han Jong-ryol added the fifth in the closing minutes as their relentless pressing overwhelmed their Central American opponents.
The day ended with an emotional moment in Group H as Zambia rallied from behind to claim a 3-1 victory over Indonesia in their first-ever U-17 World Cup match. Muhammad Gholy put Indonesia ahead with a long-range strike, but Emmanuel Nyirongo turned the game with a quickfire brace before Patrick Mwale sealed the win, sparking joyous celebrations from the young Chipolopolo.
