Qatar has always come forth with its strong humanitarian spirit to support countries across the world in times of crisis and emergency.

In light of the recent tragedy in LebanonCarrefour Qatar has responded to the catastrophic incident that rocked the Lebanese capital, Beirut, with the launch of a donation initiative to provide essential aid to those who need it.

From 23 to 29 August, Carrefour Qatar will donate QAR 1 to Qatar Red Crescent Society's “Lebanon in Our Hearts” campaign each time a customer buys a Carrefour labeled product.

Since the tragic incident happened, Qatar has sent medical equipment including essential supplies to treat those injured in the Beirut Explosion coupled with two fully-equipped field hospitals.

Carrefour is also empowering the public to help those affected by the 4 August blast in Beirut. Customers will have the opportunity to make a donation to Qatar Red Crescent at any Carrefour store. Alternatively, customers can visit the Carrefour Qatar website to donate online.

The 'Lebanon in Our Hearts' campaign, initiated by the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) in cooperation with Qatar Charity (QC) and the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), has raised more than QR94 million.

Carrefour was one of the first respondents to offer help to the affected people of Beirut through Carrefour Lebanon, providing food and essential supplies to the NGOs supporting victims and participating in the mass cleaning of the city.

Carrefour was launched in Qatar in 1999 and today it operates five hypermarkets and five supermarkets, employing over 1800 colleagues.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also urged the international community to stand by the Lebanese people and provide support to them amid the extremely grave conditions.
