Edaa and AlRayan Bank Launch Qatar's First Bank-Based Digital Investor Number Service

Edaa has signed a cooperation agreement with AlRayan Bank, making it the first bank in Qatar to allow customers to request the issuance of a National Investor Number and update shareholder information with Edaa directly through the bank. The services will be delivered through a dedicated electronic system.

A National Investor Number is the first step for individuals seeking to invest in securities listed on Qatar's capital market. Under the agreement, new and existing AlRayan Bank customers can complete this requirement through the bank without submitting a separate request to Edaa.

HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Jassim Al Thani, Chief Executive Officer of Edaa, said every investor's journey in Qatar begins with obtaining a National Investor Number, and Edaa's role is to make that first step simple, secure and accessible. He said bringing AlRayan Bank into the system would make capital-market services available closer to investors through the digital channels of Edaa's partners, reducing the need to visit service locations.

He described the collaboration as an important step towards improving access to capital-market services and broadening the investor base. He added that market growth and development are closely connected to expanding participation and making relevant services more accessible to investors.

Omar Al Emadi, Acting Group Chief Executive Officer and Group Chief Operations and Administration Officer at AlRayan Bank, said the bank was pleased to become the first in Qatar to give customers direct digital access to Edaa's National Investor Number services. He said the collaboration reflects the bank's commitment to simplifying the customer journey and providing seamless access to services supporting customers' financial and investment needs.

Al Emadi said integrating this step into AlRayan Bank's digital banking ecosystem would make participation in Qatar's capital market easier and more convenient for customers. He added that the bank looks forward to continuing its collaboration with Edaa and contributing to a more accessible, efficient and digitally enabled financial ecosystem in Qatar.

Edaa is Qatar's central securities depository and is licensed by the Qatar Financial Markets Authority. Its responsibilities include registering, depositing and safeguarding securities, providing investor services and operating the post-trade infrastructure supporting Qatar's capital markets, contributing to the Financial Sector Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030.

AlRayan Bank provides Shari'ah-compliant banking, financing, investment and wealth-management solutions for individuals, businesses and institutions. Headquartered in Lusail, the bank offers services across Retail Banking, Wholesale Banking, Private Banking, Treasury and Investment activities through an integrated network of branches, digital channels and international operations.

The bank said it remains focused on developing financial solutions that respond to customers' changing needs while adhering to Islamic banking principles and values. It also aims to support economic growth and sustainable development through financial services, innovation and long-term value creation for customers, shareholders, employees and the communities it serves.
