The 2022 FIFA World Cup may still be four years away, but preparations for it are going on in earnest both inside the country and around the world.
Qatar is marching fast towards completing its sports infrastructure well ahead of the mega event.
FIFA on Friday gave the World Cup’s broadcasting rights in Spain to Spanish multimedia giants MediaPro, reported Sports Pro Media.

The Chinese-owned, Barcelona-based media giant will air every game from the flagship international tournament, which has been brought forward from its traditional slot in the football calendar to take place from November 21 to December 18, 2022.
Mediapro bought the rights after a tender was launched by Fifa on November 13.
“The celebration of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November and December marks a new era in FIFA World Cup history. The shift in schedule will ensure a greater following and impact on TV, coinciding with the general break for national league competitions when all supporters’ eyes will be focused on the competition in Qatar,” said a Mediapro statement.
Mediapro said it would launch a dedicated 24X7 TV channel to house its extensive coverage of the competition, which will include additional programming, analysis, news, interviews, training sessions, Press conferences and historic matches.
The Mediapro agency intends to distribute the channel on all possible platforms, which will likely result in lengthy negotiations with telcos Telefonica, Vodafone and Orange.
Mediapro has acquired rights to the 2022 Fifa World Cup, the 2019 Fifa Women’s World Cup, and the U20 and U17 World Cups played between 2019 and 2022, according to Sport Business.
