With every ticket, every TV moment, every game, and every goal, another team is at work. Volunteers contribute a great deal to making the FIFA World Cup™ a joyful and friendly event, and they work tirelessly to ensure that the event runs smoothly. The memories they create for the fans, players, media, Qatar, the world, and themselves are sure to last a lifetime.
Volunteer applications for the FIFA World Cup are now open! There will be 20,000 enthusiastic volunteers working across 45 functional areas at both official and non-official venues such as stadiums, training facilities, the airport, fan zones, hotels, and public transportation hubs.
As a volunteer at the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup, 31-year-old Fatema Al Majib, a legal officer, said: “I've always loved volunteering, even when I was little. When the idea came up to volunteer for the FIFA World Cup, I thought it would be amazing to take part in a sporting event taking place in the Arab world and the Gulf for the first time. As a Qatari woman, I would be very proud to give my contribution and make new friends,”
Applicants must be 18 years or older on 1 October 2022 and speak English well; Arabic is a plus. Candidates from all backgrounds and parts of the globe are welcome to apply. No previous experience is necessary.
Volunteers selected for the program will receive a limited-edition Adidas uniform, a meal during their shift, and free public transportation. Qatar will host the FIFA World Cup 2022 from 21 November to 18 December, but some volunteer roles will begin on 1 October.
At Katara Amphitheater, the city will host a live event at 20:00 (Doha time) to commemorate the start of Qatar's biggest volunteer program in history. The star-studded lineup will include football icons and special guests who will engage a large crowd of applicants to register as volunteers. The event will be streamed live on the FIFA YouTube channel.
