Qatar rushed to aid Lebanon through urgent medical aid following the Beirut Explosion on August 4, 2020.

Part of the country’s immediate response saw the mobilization of efforts to send urgent medical aid and two fully-equipped field hospitals to treat those affected and injured in the devastating incident.

Earlier this week, the Commander in Chief of the Lebanese Armed Forces General Search Joseph Aoun inspected the first field hospital set up by Qatar in Al Roum Hospital.

The Qatari field hospital was officially inaugurated yesterday.

The hospital has all the necessary medical equipment and includes 60 operating rooms as well as rooms for the injured and patients.

The inauguration saw the attendance of Qatar’s Ambassador to Lebanon Mohamed Hassan Jaber Al Jaber, representative of the Lebanese Minister of Health in the caretaker government Dr Mohamed Hayder, representative of the Lebanese Army Commander General Elias Shamiya, Director-General of Al Roum Hospital Edgard Joujou, the Qatari logistical and medical delegation that constructed the hospital, and several diplomats.

The representative of the Lebanese Minister of Health thanked Qatar for its constant support for Lebanon.

The representative of the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander also lauded Qatar’s generous contribution toward Lebanon.

He acknowledged the efforts of the Qatari medical and logistical team, pointing out that they finished the hospital set up in record speed.

The Director-General of Al Roum Hospital spoke highly about the hospital and its equipment. He highlighted the hospital’s departments that include several operating rooms, emergency rooms for the injured, as well as a pharmacy.

Qatar’s Ambassador to Lebanon conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims of the tragedy and wished a speedy recovery for those injured.

The field hospital has been set up by Qatar under the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to support the Lebanese people as they face the agonizing consequences of the Beirut Explosion, he said.

The second field hospital is being established at the Lebanese Hospital Geitaoui and will soon be operational, the Ambassador added.

On Sunday, Qatar's Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) said over QR94million have been raised by the country under the 'Lebanon in Our Hearts' campaign.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has also urged the international community to stand by the Lebanese people and provide support to them amid the extremely grave conditions.
