Hamad Bin Khalifa University is making efforts to organize its largest virtual Graduate Studies Open House, providing insights for those interested in HBKU’s Masters or Ph.D. programs for the academic year 2021-2022.
The event taking place between November 22 and 30 will offer a chance to learn more about HBKU’s academic programs, research opportunities, admissions, and campus activities.
As the event will take place virtually, it is expected that prospective students from Qatar and around the world can participate. The six colleges will each host its session on different days and will involve a live welcome, question and answers session, and discussion with college deans.

In the hopes of engaging a larger portion of its target audience, HBKU has also decided to incorporate a dynamic mix of content across the university’s communication channels, including live streams, pre-recorded presentations, and Q&A sessions.
According to Dr. Emad El-Din Shahin, Interim Provost, “The open house is an opportunity to showcase our unique multidisciplinary academic programs and highlight to prospective students the importance of graduate studies. While the current health precautions explain our decision to move the open house online, we’re confident that this year’s event will be as comprehensive and informative as past editions, not to mention more accessible. For instance, our daily focus on a specific college lends itself to more in-depth coverage of specific programs and research activities.
“Prospective students nevertheless retain the option to learn more about our colleges by attending as many sessions as possible. In doing so, they will discover the true extent of HBKU’s innovative research ecosystem and multidisciplinary approach to learning, inquiry, and discovery. Registration for each college session is possible via our bespoke and innovative Open House website.”
Vice President of Student Affairs Maryam Al Mannai stated, “In keeping with academic institutions around the world, HBKU is fully committed to supporting its students beyond the classroom. Open House is therefore an opportunity to learn more about the services we provide for students living and studying at Education City. These include health and wellbeing facilities, student counseling, and learning and writing assistance.”
“HBKU is also home to an array of extracurricular activities, ranging from sports teams, clubs and pop-up events, to a Student Representative Council, student employment opportunities, and international research possibilities. The overarching aim of these activities is to ensure that our students are safe, secure, and embedded within our community.”
Those interested in applying for HBKU’s academic offerings are advised to participate in the open house as the deadline for application for the master’s and Ph.D. programs are February 1, 2021, for international applicants and March 15, 2021, for Qataris and residents of Qatar.
