HE Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari inaugurated a variety of nuclear medicine services under the Clinical Imaging Department at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research of Hamad Medical Corporation.

The new capabilities show the department's dedication to meeting international standards and providing the greatest clinical imaging services in Qatar for disease early identification and diagnosis.

New services being offered include a second Positron Emission Tomography Scanner; a second hybrid imaging SPECT/CT Scanner; Positron Emission Mammography imaging; a Radio Pharmacy Laboratory; and Nuclear Medicine Therapy Unit.

Playing a vital role in the diagnosis and early detection of diseases, nuclear medicine is an essential part of clinical imaging.

The addition of these new services to HMC's Nuclear Medicine Department is a tremendous achievement for the healthcare sector in the country, resulting in reduced waiting time, improved quality of care, and can lead to improved outcomes in patients.

Nuclear medicine is a branch of radiology that examines organ function and structure using very small amounts of radioactive materials, called radiopharmaceuticals. Nuclear imaging allows for the viewing of both the structure and function of organs and tissues.

Chief Radiologist for Molecular Imaging and Nuclear Medicine at HMC Dr. Maryam Al Kuwari said, “The Nuclear Medicine Department prides itself on launching these new services, which demonstrate HMC’s commitment to delivering the best healthcare services to patients in Qatar.”
