As Qatar deals with the second wave of COVID-19 and the number of daily cases have been noticeably high, healthcare workers are urging citizens and residents of Qatar to act wisely and follow all COVID-19 precautionary measures.

Over the last few days, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has been running a social media campaign that has seen healthcare staff, including nurses, paramedics, as well as some senior officials stress the importance of complying with precautionary measures to combat COVID-19.

The campaign sees healthcare staff holding placards with the message, “We’re working 24/7 to fight COVID-19. Please help us by following the precautionary measures.”

The message has been shared in Arabic, English and several other languages to connect with Qatar’s diverse population.

Recently, as Qatar entered the holy month of Ramadan, Her Excellency the country’s Minister of Public Health (MoPH) also reiterated that everyone in the community must play their part in the fight against the pandemic.

“The holy month of Ramadan this year will, undoubtedly, be different, particularly with the unabated prevailing COVID-19 pandemic and the rise in the number of people infected with the virus,” HE Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari said.

“The current situation compelled the competent authorities to take the hard decision of reinstating some of the restrictions which had been imposed earlier,” she added.

While these restrictions will affect some longstanding Ramadan-related traditions, such as social get-togethers, family gatherings, among others, we must remember that the pandemic is not over and it is essential to follow all safety measures to protect ourselves and those around us, HE the Minister stressed.

“Our healthcare teams are our soldiers in white standing in the front line to protect the community. Despite the rising number of infected patients, which place additional burdens to these workers, they are steadfast in carrying out their noble mission and national duty with great dedication,” she stated.

The least we can do to showcase our support for the frontliners is to continue to commit to keeping our society safe by adhering to the recommended precautionary measures, she added.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Qatar’s healthcare authorities have been urging the public to realize the importance of their actions and follow the recommended preventive and precautionary measures.
