The social media platforms of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) disclosed certain important information regarding the new residency permit card.
The new Residence Permit Card is a proof of identity of an expatriate resident and his valid residency in the country.
Thus, according to MoI, the card should be carried by the resident at all times and should be produced whenever concerned authorities ask for it, especially while leaving the country and coming back to the country.
In case, if a resident misplaces his RP card when returning to Qatar from another country, or fails to carry it while entering the country, the following procedures will be followed -

1. If the resident doesn’t exceed the permitted limit of six months stay outside Qatar, he will be allowed to enter the country with a return visa issued directly at the port of entry without resorting to employer.
Also, his Residence Card will be marked as lost in the immigration system.
2. If the resident has exceeded six months stay, he will be required to get a return visa processed by his employer/sponsor to enter the country.
Also, the resident shall sign an undertaking not to repeat it and his Residence Card will be marked as lost in the immigration system.
If the resident doesn’t get a return visa processed by his sponsor/employer, he will be referred to concerned authorities for violating Residence Law No. 4/2009, and accordingly legal measures will be taken.
However, all residents who travel abroad should have a valid passport and validity of his residence permit should not be expired.
The MoI further reminds all residents on the importance of keeping their Residence Card and Passport especially while entering and exiting the country.
