The demise of Oman’s ruler, Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said, has filled the hearts of people across the world with deep sorrow.

Sultan Qaboos, who was the longest-serving ruler in the Middle East, was a highly-regarded leader admired for his wisdom, integrity, and balance.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has passed on his deep condolences to the Sultanate of Oman in this time of grief and wished his family and the people of Oman patience and solace to deal with the incredible loss.

In a statement by the Amiri Diwan, HH the Amir called the late Omani ruler a “great leader characterized by wisdom, moderation and long-term vision.”

Sultan Qaboos “dedicated his life to serve his country and his ummah, calling for dialogue and for rejecting violence and extremism,” HH the Amir noted.

The statement also acknowledged the late Sultan’s exemplary role in leading Oman’s comprehensive renaissance across all fields.

HH the Amir also announced three days public mourning across the country after the sad demise of the Sultan Qaboos.

Meanwhile, the Sultanate of Oman has announced the late Sultan's cousin and the country's former culture minister, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said as the new Sultan of the Sultanate of Oman.
