His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has directed to send a team from Qatar’s International Search and Rescue Group, part of the Internal Security Force ‘Lekhwiya’ to Turkey.
The team will participate in search operations for missing persons in the fires that have swept across Turkish provinces.
At least 70 wildfires have broken out across 17 provinces on Turkey’s Aegean and Mediterranean coasts this week amid strong winds and scorching temperatures, Al Jazeera reported.
The support from Qatar was announced by His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani during a phone call with Turkish Interior Minister H E Suleyman Soylu yesterday.

HE Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior sent his deepest condolences and the condolences of the Qatari government over the victims of the fires and wished a speedy recovery to those who have been injured in the catastrophe.
The talks also covered the strategic cooperation between Qatar and Turkey and looked into ways of cementing them further.
Qatar and Turkey have always stood by each other through thick and thin. The two nations enjoy strong bilateral ties bolstered over the years through strategic collaboration in several fields.
The two countries have joined hands under many agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in fields, including political, trade partnerships, economic, and investment, energy affairs, manufacturing, industry, education, media, healthcare, tourism, and projects related to the hosting of World Cup 2022.
