HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent a cable of condolence to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for the victims of wildfires that are spreading across different parts of the country.

He also wished those injured a speedy recovery.

Wildfires have been moving across different parts of Algeria, leaving destruction of property and loss of human life in its wake. On Monday, fire spread across 16 provinces, killing more than 30 people including 10 soldiers. Hundreds were also forced to urgently evacuate their houses. The death toll is likely to go up, with the Bejaia, Bouira and Jijel provinces in the east of Algiers being the most affected.

International news agencies reported that at least 8,000 firefighters have been pressed into service. The wildfires have been attributed largely to the heatwave that is currently sweeping the country.
