HH the Amir's visit reflects the strong relations between Qatar and Rwanda that the two sides have worked to enhance in recent times.
In April this year, HH the Amir held official talks with the Rwandan President. Following the meeting Qatar and Rwanda inked a number of agreements including deals related to air transport and two draft MoUs for cooperation in the fields of sport and culture coupled with one agreement covering tourism and business activities.
Before that the Qatari-Rwandan bond had been consolidated through an agreement signed between Hassad Food company and the Government of Rwanda, in November last year, that looked at investment opportunities in the field of agriculture and food.
In addition to this Qatar Airways had also participated in the Aviation Africa Summit, which was held in Rwanda in February this year.
At the event, President Kagame acknowledged Rwanda’s partnership with Qatar in the field of smart cities, "especially that both countries are among the top 10 globally in the future vision and speed of response to address its requirements."
