Qatar and Kuwait have always held each other in high regard. The brotherly relations between the two countries have been further cemented by Kuwait's unwavering support to Qatar ever since the Gulf crisis erupted.

The two countries have pledged bilateral support and cooperation in several areas including political, economic, trade, investment, military and security cooperation, human rights, and others.

In January this year, Qatar announced that it has entered into a 15-year agreement with Kuwait to supply the country with 3 million tonnes of LNG annually.

Also, last year, upon the directives of HH the Amir, Qatar officially launched the Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor project, in appreciation of the Kuwaiti Amir, reflecting the strength of the relationship between the two nations.

The leaders of both nations have regularly held talks on issues of mutual concern and ways to strengthen the Qatari-Kuwaiti ties.

To discuss the solid fraternal relations between the two countries as well as efforts to fight the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a telephonic conversation with HH the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah yesterday.

During the call, the two leaders reviewed bilateral ties between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples as well as ways to take the relations to new heights.

HH the Amir and the Kuwaiti Amir also spoke about developments pertaining to the fight against COVID-19 and the measures being taken in this regard by both countries.

They also explored areas of cooperation between the two countries to limit and curb the spread of the infection.

Some regional and international issues of common concern were also discussed during the call.

Earlier, in March, HH the Amir also spoke to the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan about efforts to combat COVID-19. The two leaders also spoke about ways to combine efforts in beating the virus and curbing it from spreading.

Qatar has also extended a helping hand to China, Iran, and Palestine with relief aid and assistance to help the countries fight one of the biggest health challenges of current times.

Meanwhile, for the safety of its population, Qatar has taken some remarkable steps that have received praise from the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

For any queries, or concerns related to COVID-19 in Qatar, the public can contact a 24/7 hotline set up by the Ministry. The hotline number is 16000 and is toll-free.

Here's everything you need to know about the virus, including ways to protect yourself.
