His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani offered condolences to the new Sultan of the Sultanate of Oman, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, upon the sad demise of Oman's former ruler, Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said.

HH the Amir was accompanied by an official delegation including Qatar's Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

The Qatari ruler paid his respects to Their Highnesses members of the royal family, ranking officials and notables at the Al Alam Palace in Muscat. He prayed to the Almighty Allah to have mercy on the departed soul, rest him in peace in paradise, Qatar News Agency reported.
HH the Amir also wished patience and solace upon the esteemed former ruler's family and the royal family.

HH the Amir then left the Sultanate of Oman and is he headed to Tehran, for an official visit to Iran.

Yesterday, HH the Amir had declared three days public mourning across Qatar after the sad demise of the Sultan Qaboos.
In a statement by the Amiri Diwan, HH the Amir called the late Omani ruler a “great leader characterized by wisdom, moderation and long-term vision.”
Sultan Qaboos “dedicated his life to serve his country and his ummah, calling for dialogue and for rejecting violence and extremism,” HH the Amir noted.
The statement also acknowledged the late Sultan’s exemplary role in leading Oman’s comprehensive renaissance across all fields.
