His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is participating in the Kuala Lumpur (KL) Summit 2019 in Malaysia alongside Muslim leaders and delegates from around the world.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey and President Hassan Rouhani of Iran are among some of the leaders to have joined the KL Summit.
The meeting in Malaysia's capital aims to address some of the most pressing issues concerning the Muslim ummah including Islamophobia and poverty.
Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is the chairman of the meeting, welcomed the heads of states and delegates to the summit this morning.

The organizers of the summit have emphasized the event is not meant to replace the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) but will specifically address the state of affairs of the Muslim Ummah.
Over 400 delegates comprising leaders, thinkers, intellectuals, politicians and non-governmental organizations from 52 countries are attending the four-day summit themed 'The Role of Development in Achieving National Sovereignty.'
HH the Amir also delivered a speech at the summit today.
"We're proud of our civilisation and religion within committing to our humanity and universal values without any contradiction, underlining that national development, considering human development, is impossible without national sovereignty," HH the Amir said during the speech.

His Highness arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday to participate in the Kuala Lumpur Summit 2019.
He was received upon his arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport by Minister of Education Maszlee bin Malik, Kuala Lumpur Summit Secretary-General Samsudin Osman, a number of ranking Malaysian officials, Qatar's ambassador to Malaysia Fahad bin Mohamed Kafoud and members of the Qatari embassy.
