As Qatar and Saudi Arabia work toward cementing ties, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Saudi Crown Prince HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud met in Jeddah yesterday.

The meeting came as part of HH the Amir’s official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This was HH the Amir’s first visit to Saudi Arabia since the signing of the historic Al-Ula Declaration in January this year.

At the commencement of the session yesterday, HRH the Saudi Crown Prince welcomed HH the Amir and the delegation accompanying him to Saudi Arabia and passed on the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to them.

HH Sheikh Tamim extended his greetings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. He exchanged greetings with the Saudi Crown Prince on the upcoming occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

HH the Amir prayed to Allah to accept the good deeds of the Arab and Islamic Ummah and bless them on the occasion.

The talks between the two sides delved into ways of further strengthening bilateral relations in various fields.

Additionally, HH the Amir and the Saudi Crown Prince also exchanged views on the most prominent issues in the region and around the world.

A number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir attended the session, while from the Saudi side several ministers and other top officials were present.

HH the Amir also attended a suhoor banquet hosted by the Saudi Crown Prince in honor of Qatar's ruler and the delegation accompanying him.

Earlier, upon his arrival at King Abdulaziz International Airport, HH the Amir and the Qatari delegation were welcomed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Since the signing of the historic Al-Ula Declaration, Qatar and the former blockading nations have been making efforts to strengthen relations for the GCC's security, stability, and unity.

Saudi Arabia had taken the lead in opening its airspace, land, and sea borders with Qatar following which the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain opened their borders to the Gulf State.
