Qatar and Turkey have enjoyed longstanding friendly relations for several years. Through collaboration and cooperation across several fields, the two nations continue to strengthen ties and take them to new heights.

Under the same ambition, the leaders of the two countries met in Qatar yesterday.

His Excellency the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Qatar on an official visit Thursday evening. This was President Erdogan's first overseas trip since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Turkish President held official talks at the Pearl Palace.

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the strategic relations between Qatar and Turkey.

They also explored ways to bolster Qatar-Tukey ties across various fields, especially in economic, investment, commercial, energy and defence cooperation to achieve common interests for the two countries and peoples.

They affirmed their determination to bring the relations between the two countries to more cooperative and integrated levels in all fields.

Furthermore, the talks also focused on regional issues such as the latest developments in Palestine, Libya, Syria, and Yemen, and international issues of common concern.

A number of Their Excellencies Ministers from Qatar attended the meeting as well as several of Their Excellencies from Turkey and the members of the official delegation accompanying HE the Turkish President. 

Later, HH the Amir hosted a dinner banquet in honor of the Turkish president and his accompanying delegation.

President Erdogan and his accompanying delegation left Doha later in the evening and were seen off on departure by Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs.
