His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday visited the Central Doha and Al Corniche Street Project site.

Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is leading the project and its implementation.

HH the Amir viewed the designs and models of materials used in the development of the project’s roads and tunnels.

He also observed the main bike lanes and other developmental works in the Corniche, during the visit.

Top officials from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment coupled with Ashghal representatives shared an overview of the project’s latest updates with HH the Amir.

These include information about new roads, a smart lighting system, environmentally-friendly electrical control units, in addition to vast walking and cycling tracks.

During the briefing, it was also highlighted that the new roads have been designed to depict the spirit and identity of Central Doha.

His Excellency Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani accompanied HH the Amir for the visit.

Later, in an Instagram post, HH the Amir said, the project focuses on developing the central Doha region and increasing green spaces by 200 percent within the next two years.

It takes into account environment-friendly planning and its uses, as part of Qatar's vision to encourage healthy lifestyles and improve its air quality, he pointed out.
