HH The Amir appoints Board of Trustees of Tamim bin Hamad University for Military and Technology Sciences

HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has issued Amiri Decision No. 37 of 2026, appointing the Board of Trustees of Tamim bin Hamad University for Military and Technology Sciences.

The decision was issued on September 29, on the same day that HH the Amir issued Amiri Decision No. 36 of 2026 establishing and organising the new university.

Who will lead the Board of Trustees?

Under the decision, the university’s Board of Trustees will be chaired by the Commander-in-Chief of the Qatar Armed Forces, while the Minister of State for Defence Affairs will serve as Vice-Chairman.

The board will also include the:

• Minister of Interior
• Minister of Education and Higher Education
• Minister of Transport
• Head of State Security
• Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces
• President of the National Cyber Security Agency
• President of Qatar University
• Dr Mariam Ali Sultan Al-Maadeed
• Sheikha Dr Dena bint Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani

Additional members can be appointed

The Amiri decision authorises the Chairman of the Board to appoint additional members with relevant competence and expertise.

The decision takes effect from the date of issuance and will be published in the Official Gazette.
