Qatar, Jordan and UK Host Call to Action Meeting on Gaza Humanitarian Situation

The State of Qatar, in partnership with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the United Kingdom, hosted a "Call to Action" meeting on the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip on Friday, September 25, 2026. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Khulaifi represented the State of Qatar at the meeting and delivered an address outlining the country's diplomatic and humanitarian efforts concerning Gaza.

In his address, HE the Minister of State emphasised that Qatar attaches great importance to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people. He explained that this commitment had been a primary driver of the State of Qatar's diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and advance the comprehensive 20-point plan proposed by US President Donald Trump and endorsed by the UN Security Council through Resolution 2803.

His Excellency highlighted that Qatar's diplomatic efforts had been accompanied by extensive humanitarian initiatives to address urgent needs in the Gaza Strip. These initiatives included providing food, essential supplies and tents to approximately 436,000 people, as well as supporting the resumption of operations at the HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani Hospital for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics.

The hospital's return to operation formed part of Qatar's efforts to support essential healthcare and rehabilitation services for people affected by the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The assistance described by His Excellency covered immediate necessities, including food and shelter, alongside support intended to help sustain vital medical care.

HE the Minister of State further explained that Qatar had supplied the Gaza Strip with 30 million litres of fuel over the previous three years. He added that Qatar had recently signed an agreement with the United Nations to provide a further 1.3 million litres of fuel, supporting the continued operation of medical facilities and other essential services that depend on reliable fuel supplies.

His Excellency stressed the necessity of ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches those in need rapidly, sustainably and without impediment. He also emphasised the importance of enabling humanitarian organisations to carry out their responsibilities safely while ensuring the protection of health workers, medical facilities and medical transport involved in providing essential care.

With winter approaching, HE the Minister of State highlighted the urgent need to provide adequate shelter, clean water and sanitation services. These requirements formed part of the immediate humanitarian priorities identified during the meeting alongside the continued delivery of food, essential supplies, fuel and medical support.

HE the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reiterated Qatar's commitment to continuing its work with its partners and the Board of Peace. This cooperation will focus on addressing urgent humanitarian needs in Gaza and supporting recovery and reconstruction efforts, with the ultimate objective of achieving a just and lasting peace.

His Excellency concluded by expressing the State of Qatar's appreciation for the support extended to the "Call to Action" and reaffirming its commitment to continued humanitarian assistance, recovery and reconstruction efforts in partnership with the relevant parties.
