Qatar Blood Service (QBS) has called upon the people of Qatar with RH negative blood groups to donate blood.

In a post on its Twitter page, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) highlighted that QBS is in urgent “need of blood donors from all RH negative groups such as O-, A-, AB-, B-.”

Those who wish to extend their support and donate blood can do so at the Blood Donation Center next to Hamad General Hospital.

The timings for blood donation are Sunday to Thursday: 7 am to 9.30 pm. On Saturday, blood donors can approach the center from 8 am to 2 pm.

The QBS teams continue to ensure that blood donation is carried out in the safest way possible, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes mandatory pre-screening prior to entering the blood donation sites in addition to frequent disinfection of all surfaces and equipment.

Blood donation can be one of the best ways of helping a person in need. If you wish to donate, call on +974 4439 1082 or +974 4439 1082 and check your eligibility.

To donate blood, a person must be a healthy adult who is at least 17 years old, has no serious chronic sickness or past infections, has a bodyweight of at least 50 kilograms, and has a hemoglobin level of at least 13 grams for males and 12.5 grams for females.

The donor must be free of fever, cough, or any other infection on the day of the donation and must have gotten enough sleep.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that QBS will be launching three new mobile blood donation units soon to increase blood availability in the country. The units will be launched as part of preparations for international events, including the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
