Getting ready for a career change but not yet sure of the process?
A number of sweeping reforms have taken place in the past few years, including removing the requirement for a NOC, a No Objection Certificate, which was previously required before changing places of employment.
We’ve put together this guide to help you navigate through the new process:
1 - Notify your employer through the ADLSA platform
The first step is to notify your employer through the ADLSA platform of your intention to leave. The new reforms outline clearer notice periods, with a worker required to give a one-month notice if they’ve been at the job for two years or less, and a two-month notice for those working longer..
2 - Provide the necessary documentation
The next step is to complete the change-of-employer form online and upload the necessary documents:
- The ADLSA change-of-employer form
- Copy of the contract signed with the former employer, authenticated by the ADLSA
- New employer’s job offer in Arabic

3 - New employer initiates contract
The new employer and jobseeker will receive an SMS from ADLSA confirming the change of employment after the necessary documents have been submitted.
Upon receipt of the text message and after the legal notice period ends, the new employer will then initiate an electronic employment contract on the ADLSA’s digital authentication system.

4 - New contract signed & uploaded
The new employer is then responsible for printing out the contract, discussing it with the prospective jobseeker and signing it with the worker. The signed contract is uploaded on the ADLSA’s Digital Authentication System by the employer and a 60 QAR authentication fee is paid.
5 - New QID issued
Following the authentication of the contract, the new employer will then submit a request for a new Qatari ID card (QID) to the Ministry of Interior. Once this process is completed, the employee is then able to start their new job.
A copy of the employment contract can be downloaded by both parties at any times through the Digital Authentication System.
