The weather calls for it and the fact that we live in a Peninsula calls for this all year long – it’s camping season! We’re giving you our top tips to plan your next camping trip in Qatar and we plan to send you off fully equipped for your next adventure.

 The Season

Your backpack will heavily depend on which season you’re planning to camp. We would camp any time of the year but October – February are popular seasons to get in those family camping trips! Your sleeping arrangements, food choices, and clothes all depend on this factor.

The Campsite

The decision is not as easy as it seems as there are so many factors to take in. Starting with the depth of the water, especially if you are camping with your family and have kids, it's best to locate a site that’s shallow so you’re not always worried about the water.

In addition, you have to see how to even get to your campsite as certain spots need a 4x4 whereas some campsites can be reached by sedans. Here’s a list for your consideration:

Offroading camping spots (accessible by 4x4)

Food

Consider this one of your top priorities when you’re planning your next camping trip. Most of your off-roading sites are not located near marts or eateries so it's best to go prepared. Make sure you’re carrying a lot of water for each person on the trip as well. If you’re planning on cooking, make arrangements where you have storage options for your meat and other edibles. You don’t want to be stranded on your camping escapade without good food!

Packing

Your camping gear checklist will get you a long way and you’ll be sending all the good vibes our way – trust us! This list also depends on the fact whether you are camping with a company or individually.

  • Tents (and pegs)
  • Sleeping gear including your pillows and tubes/air mattresses
  • Chairs and tables
  • A small brush to clean the tent from the sand inside your sleeping gear
  • BBQ gear (firewood, BBQ and charcoal, pot, pans, dishes, cups, oiling brushes)
  • First Aid Kit (include vinegar in case of jellyfish stings, bug sprays, and sunscreen as well)
  • Towels and swimsuits
  • Torches
  • Toilet paper
  • Canopy
  • GPS devices and battery packs
  • Shovels and tow ropes

The Car

Now that you’re packed up and have scouted your location, make sure your car is in excellent condition and the tires are deflated for better traction. Try to follow the tracks to make sure you’re not completely off the map. That GPS device is your best friend for this venture!

As you embark on your camping season, QL would like you to take note of these important numbers that you need to have with you just in case.
