If you are an Ooredoo home broadband subscriber, then there is some exciting news for you.

The Qatari telecom giant has announced that they will soon increase the home internet speed of its users by five times, absolutely free of cost, according to The Peninsula.

In a video tweeted by Ooredoo Qatar, Gunther Ottendorfer, Chief Technology and Infrastructure Officer, said: “Our Supernet is so strong that we’ve decided to upgrade the broadband speed for free.”

He also said that the change would take place automatically and the subscriber doesn’t have to do anything.

Ooredoo also sent text messages to its customers saying it had increased the speed of data transfer from 15 megabits per second to 50 Mbps.

“Great News! Your Home internet speed just got boosted for no extra charge, as you have just been moved from 15 Mbps to the new 50 Mbps Supernet Home Broadband plan,” an Ooredoo message to a customer read, according to Qatar Tribune.

It is understood that users with a 30mbps connection will now be upgraded to 150mbps and 100mbps users will be updated to 500mbps at no extra cost.
