Hyatt Plaza’s Fast-a-Thon is a charity event that allows Non-Muslims the opportunity to experience fasting for a day. This year, for every person who registers and fasts, Hyatt Plaza and Qatar Charity will donate 200 QAR on his or her behalf to end hunger in Somalia. 

This Ramadan’s Fast-a-Thon marks the eighth edition of the event’s hosting at Hyatt Plaza shopping mall. In the past, they have hosted as many as 400 people at their venue. Each year, a different charitable cause is targeted.

In 2015 alone, Hyatt Plaza collected around QAR 80,000 worth of donations to help ensure English courses for orphans in Somalia.

Aside from providing iftar for the Non-Muslims to break their fasts, the mall has also been known to host a range of small entertainments to go alongside the meal, such as free henna hand painting. 

Expats in Qatar are always intrigued by the local culture, especially during Ramadan. Hyatt Plaza, in a bid to bring communities together, is providing the participants with the chance to help the underprivileged and experience the true spirit of the Holy Month through fasting for one day.
